About Lessons

Q. What are the benefits of group lessons?
A.
Group lessons help students become individually motivated. With our specifically designed programs, our group lessons are the best way for beginning students to gain the skills necessary to function as part of an ensemble, as well as establish proper technique and good practicing habits. These classes can help students gain confidence through encouragement, and interaction with the teacher and class. 

Q. What are the benefits of private lessons?
A.
Private lessons allow our teachers to design a specific program for your child based upon previous musical experience, level of performance, sight reading, etc. Personal attention from the instructor offers a chance to advance at the student’s rate of learning.

About Practice

Q. How long should my child practice?
A. The length of practice time is dependent on variables such as the assignment at hand and the experience level of the student. It is important that students practice weekly assignments daily and correctly for the amount of times specified on the practice organizer.

Q. How do I know if my child is practicing correctly?
A.
The weekly practice organizer will state what the student should be practicing and the parent can monitor as needed.

About Instrument

Q. What instrument is right for my child?
A. Piano is always a great choice for a student with no prior musical experience, it is the easiest instrument on which to learn fundamental music skills.  Learning basic piano lays a foundation for advancement on any instrument.  However, if your child wishes to begin study on a different instrument in which he/she shows particular interest, an allowance in this respect may positively contribute to his/her level of motivation and long term success.

Q. How young can my child be to start an instrument?
A. We offer classes for children to begin an instrument as young as 4 years old. For your newborn-3 yr. old to receive a positive introduction into the world of music, sign up for the “Kindermusik” program.

Q. How much do instruments cost?
A. Instruments vary in prices by type and quality of instrument.  *Note: Always buy within your budget, but without sacrificing the quality of the instrument. more info>>

Q. Do I need to buy an instrument?
A.
No, rental or lease-to-buy programs are economical alternatives.
